Team Vihtavuori Shooters Francis Colon and Chad Heckler continued their competitive success at the 2025 Peterson Cartridge Challenge on August 9-10. Colon placed first in the Open Series and Top Suppressor series (179 impacts), while Heckler Won Top Tactical (161 impacts).

The Peterson Cartridge Challenge was held at MKM Precision in Kennerdell PA and saw 162 competitors competing from across the world. Competitors faced a challenging and dynamic course of fire, featuring 18-20 unique stages with engagements ranging from 300 to 1100 yards. Participants tested their skills against a variety of steel, reactive, and automated moving targets, with target difficulty adjusted based on shooting position, distance, and time constraints. Most stages incorporated stressors, including time limits and mandatory movement, to further challenge competitors.

“It can be a challenge for shooters to find a consistent powder that keeps them in the hunt for a podium. N150 has been our choice to ensure our ammo performance is always capable of winning.” Said Colon “It’s versatility to run anything from heavy 223 Rem, 6mm BR variants, 6.5 Creedmoor and even the venerable 308 Win is a main reason it’s our go-to choice for competition. Rock solid consistency from lot-to-lot and low single digit velocity standard deviations makes it the perfect choice to keep you in the hunt for a win! ”

Colon’s components consisted of Lapua 6.5 Creedmoor brass, Vihtavuori N150 Powder, and Berger’s 140gr hybrid target. Heckler’s recipe for success was Lapua’s 308 Winchester brass, Vihtavuori N150 Powder, and 168 Grain Berger Hybrid Target bullets.

Vihtavuori Congratulates Colon and Heckler on yet another impressive win for the 2025 season.
